About DJWW Auto Diagnostics
David Wragg, Owner and Diagnsotic Expert, DJWW Auto Diagnostics
Hi, my name is David Wragg. I run a small family business located in the West Midlands, United Kingdom. In common with many others, my business grew out of need and a disappointing experience.
Back in 2010 my BMW 330i E46 Touring developed intermittent but severe idling and progression problems, which would cause the engine to cut out when pulling away. A search on the internet proved terrifying, with various ‘experts’ giving expensive and wildly varying diagnoses from faulty engine management systems to mechanical faults requiring an engine strip down. My local BMW dealer wanted extortionate fees just to connect a terminal to the car, with no guarantee of any diagnosis, particularly if the fault wasn’t present on the day of the test. I could have been looking at a bill for hundreds of pounds. What I needed was to interrogate the car myself, so at least I could catch the fault when it appeared. So I set about making a lead and designing a software package to enable me to connect using my laptop and see what the car itself was telling me. Sure enough, after a while the fault manifested itself one day and I eagerly connected my laptop. A sticking throttle body valve was soon diagnosed. This was sprayed with fuel injection cleaner and - hey presto! – I had cleared my first fault for next to nothing. The fault didn’t come back, and none of my family’s cars have been near a dealer since! It’s surprising how many daunting fault codes turn out to be quite cheap and simple to put right. For example, take the following scary faults on my Dad’s BMW 335i: The ABS alarm was on, the driving stability alarm was on, the ABS was operating at random and the cruise control had failed. The panel was advising slow driving and an urgent visit to the dealership. We put the laptop on and immediately a wheel speed sensor was found to be faulty. It took less than an hour to change it and the total cost was £17. The software even told us which wheel to work on. It occurred to me that other people might be interested so I put my software and a small range of leads on eBay. That’s how it all started, and thousands of people have since bought my packages, at first just for BMW, but over the years we have extended the range to cover more manufacturers.
I always give personal service and I keep my prices as low as possible. I know what it can be like to feel you’re being held to ransom by someone with a data terminal connected to your car, so I like to give as many people as possible the chance to do their own diagnostics. Of course, even if you don’t want to carry out any necessary repairs yourself, at least you will have an idea of what’s wrong so you’re less likely to get ripped off. But it’s not just about faults - you can also use the package for maintenance, doing your own modifications to the car, adding new accessories or in some cases finding the exact manufacturer’s part numbers used when your car was being built at the factory.
I have assisted many customers to install and configure my software on their laptops. I make no extra charge for this, and for a small charge I will install your software for you via a remote internet session with your laptop. Please contact me if you require this. I am also happy to install software for you in person subject to a small additional charge. I am just 10 minutes from M42 J10, or we can send the laptop via DHL. I have done this for many customers all over the world.
Plugging in to your car is a simple low-risk operation, but only if you use quality components and good, current software. Inferior software and cheap leads import risk. Please be careful of claims made by some other suppliers. A lot of my time involves helping disappointed people to replace defective leads and inferior software supplied by others. In some cases, I have recognised bits of my own old software, often obsolete, badly copied by someone else then sold on or given away free with the purchase of one of their leads. Check that suppliers have a good record of supporting their customers and good, genuine feedback. The leads supplied may not be compatible with the vehicle or the software, or their software may be out of date. You could be left with software which won't load, a lead which won't let you talk to your car or in extreme cases, a crashed laptop or your car off the road. A bewildering range of leads is available from all over the world but not all will live up to their claims of compatibility. You will only get good results by selecting the correct lead to suit your vehicle, and matching this to good software. I have done all of this for you and I have a range of leads available which I guarantee will work with my software. I sell leads on their own and as part of packages, tested personally before dispatch. I have a range of leads, adaptors and other interfaces available for all sorts of vehicles. Please contact me for details; I endeavour to answer all messages the same day.
If you are unsure of the exact date of manufacture of your car please email me with your VIN number and I will advise the correct package for you.
My products are also still available on eBay; please feel free to check out my customer feedback there. Please be assured that the quality of all my items, and the service and technical support given, are exactly the same on this website as on eBay, but prices on eBay have to be higher due to eBay’s fees.
For additional peace of mind, you can pay by PayPal if you wish.
Please use the contact us button if you have any questions at all. I look forward to helping.
